Student Employment: Linking College and The Workplace Monograph
Published 1996 in cooperation with the National Center for
the Freshman Year Experience (now out of print)
Editor-in-Chief, Rick Kincaid, Career Services, The College at
Brockport, Brockport, New York
The Monograph explores “student employment as a hybrid, serving as a
bridge between work and school, and ultimately, a link between school and full-time
work. Student employment links elements of financial aid, career development, academic
learning, experiential education, and personal development”. Access to the
Monograph is graciously being offered to NSEA members only.

Through College on Nothing a Year
Published 1915, Charles Scribner's Sons, New York
Written by Christian Gauss, who was a faculty member at Princeton and
became close to a student who was financing his education though a grueling combination
of jobs in the years before World War I. During the 20's and 30's, Boy's Life magazine
(the official magazine of the Boy Scouts) sold a library of publications, "the books
every boy should read," and this was one of the selections.
